I keep running into the same trap question, that is a trick question

"A boy had 4 marbles and lost one. How many marbles does he have now?"

the answer is 0, had is past tense. He presently has no marbles.

After I answered 0 it deducted 10 points of my quality score. And I keep running into this same trap question, so I go on to another survey, I cant help to think im missing out becouse of this stupid question.

Had or has makes no difference in a math problem, -the question is what is 4 - one? They wrote 'one' out rather than the number 1 to see if you are paying attention.

Julie has 7 apples, her friend John had 5 apples how many do they have altogether? These are on my daughter's math homework all the time, had and has in the same math problem.
