Boston Area R Crisis Center (BARCC)

BARCC was founded in 1973 by a group of people dedicated to building a hotline to answer calls from rape survivors. Today, we are national leaders in providing comprehensive, free services including a 24-hour hotline, 24-hour medical advocacy, individual and group counseling, and legal advocacy. We also provide community awareness and prevention services through partnerships and training with organizations and communities.

Rape and sexual assault impact more people than you think - maybe even someone you know.In the United States, 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men reported experiencing an attempted or completed rape at some time in their lives. In Massachusetts alone, 4,418 adolescents and adults are sexually assaulted each year - that’s 12 people each day and one every two hours.

These terrible acts of violence can happen to anybody. Everybody -- and I mean everybody -- has a right to access these services without shame and fear! The all-around cost of rape is too high to ignore.

This cause is very near and dear to me because I've not only donated to this cause through an organization which put on theatrical shows revolving around women's and girls' well-being, I was also a recipient of this organization's services.

This community resource is vitally needed in our area. It's imperative that it remains available for survivors to get the services they need.

I will request that P2S cut and send the check after my first goal of $50 is met. Thank you, so much for donating.
