Perhaps someone higher up there knows for certain, but it really only started tracking mine after I logged in every day.

Make sure you're actually signing out of your account and then logging in with the site. I had the same problem where I was confused about why the quest wasn't updating. After I logged out one night, came back and logged in the next day, "Getting Addicted" and "Totally addicted" updated for me and I was credited for both merit quests. I usually stay signed into my account so I figure that's why it wasn't updating for me.

Keep logging out each day and logging back in when you come back. Like I said, I came back the next day to see it updated You'll start to see the progress, most likely not instantly.

But since they changed the layout it looks like you end up being restricted to only viewing the most recently achieved ones, and the ones you are closest to completing. It still may be displayed there, but the completion bars that used to show how close you were have been removed as well... =/

Give it time to update. Keep logging out each day and logging back in when you come back. Like I said, I came back the next day to see it updated
