Diamond members act like mods

If someone tell you doing something wrong and ask you to stop just stop and go on your merry way arguing in the shout isn't going to solve anything and if have an issue with something talk to one the mod or send in support ticket and let one them handle what the issue maybe. And for upper member I do feel that some of you kind of are little to forceful and strict at time on members. I do understand that your only enforcing the rules but got understand there a right way and a wrong way. we have to let them know what they are doing is wrong and ask them to stop is ok but when you say your going to get banned that not good to say. I like tell them what they are doing wrong and let them have warning by telling them if they continue what they are doing they well be removed from the shout. Never once tell them that they are getting banned. See to me it more of block or time out. from the shout lot people might think that if say banned that their account is going to get banned. And only people that really can banned someone is the admins. And I do understand that there someone that just like to push buttons but we just have to smile and don't let it get to us.

In the forums, there's an "alert a mod" button - the post isn't going anywhere, there's no immediate problem or danger that needs to be addressed; just mark it and a mod'll come along to vet the post if needed, but with the Shoutbox, there's no real way to summon a mod to deal with a spammer, an abusive member, or an escalating argument. There's no easy way of knowing if a mod is even online, and if so, if they're in the Shout, or away doing an offer. In the absence of a mod, even a perceived absence, an Elite or above user is going to take it onto themselves to delete or give a communication ban to an offender, even if it's an overzealous reaction, as they'd see themselves as Keeper of the Gates and the Shoutbox's only defence until a mod posts. Perhaps some sort of additional tab may be needed in Shout, where it lists the admins and mods who are online, and in addition to that, a "status" icon like with the Contacts bar, showing if they are in the Shout and able to moderate, away from their keyboards, or off doing an offer. Users would probably be a lot less quick to use their moderation privileges if a real mod was seen to be online and available to take action.

You can easily add and message a moderator if there is a problem, like it's suggested in the stickied post in the platinum forum. We also do have the private chat where we appear online if we're on each others friends list. I have been sent private chats a few times from elite members when something was going on, and was able to take care of it just fine. If you think that a moderator tab should be added to our contacts list, I could see how that would be effective and work, but not on the Shoutbox. If the elite moderation option was taken away from members it wouldn't be the end of the world. We were doing just fine with it before this option was even brought up, and I don't see how we wouldn't be if it was taken away. In fact I think we would be doing better if it were gone.

The higher honor level you get the more your expected to help out. It's not mandatory that you do so some people to get out of hand with it.

I've noticed this happening, but I feel like your exaggerating a bit. I would also like to say that I have never seen Diamond members doing this and this shouldn't be limited to just diamond members. I've only seen about 2 elite members who just go happy with the ban button. but besides that most elite members have always been kind to me and other people in the shoutbox. I also remember being on this site at like 4 A.M. and there being no mods online at all. Then there was spammers having fun in the shoutbox and all us gold and platinum members could do was just delete the steady stream of post. That's where an elite member came in and smashed the little nOOb with the almighty ban hammer . So if we take away the elite's and diamond's battery operated ban hammer, what are we going to do when the spammers attack again and there's no mods online?
