"The bill would allow the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as copyright holders, to seek court orders against websites accused of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement."

Wow, this bill is crazy. Really hope there's enough opposition to overrule this..

SAVE THE INTERNET - GREAT PROGRESS!
Avaaz campaigner Maria Paz Cambronero delivers our petition to top White House officials
In days, over 1 million of us worldwide signed a petition opposing a scandalous bill that would give the US government the right to shut down any website -- targeting sites like WikiLeaks, YouTube, even Avaaz!
President Obama’s team responded, and Avaaz organized a 1 hour meeting with top White House officials to deliver the petition.
Great. If it's a cloture vote then there likely won't be a lot discussed about this bill while in the Senate. I have heard from Anonymous that if this passes then they would enact 'not so legal' methods of retribution towards those responsible.

I have a feeling that this is gonna either be a rider in the future or is gonna get rushed through Congress before anyone can really do anything about it. Not only that but with the postponement there is very likely going to be hoards of lobbyists coming in full force, with those having the most money having the most voice.

I can guarantee that there will likely be hacktivist retribution if this passes. I'm not saying I know for certain, but anyone who knows the internet should have an inkling of what type of people will be affected.

Pretty interesting thread about SOPA bill. The Stop Online Piracy Act is a Congressional bill meant to increase copyright protections on the internet. It is especially fascinating, then, that torrent data show that individuals using Congressional internet connection are unlawfully downloading everything from films to self-help books. Resource for this article: Congress supports SOPA while illegally downloading self-help books

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure there's a greater risk if this were to happen. I heard about this about a month ago, and I didn't think it was serious. Now that even in P2S, we're talking about it, then I'm afraid we as the people, should definitely have our say and speak up about this.

I've made this thread a sticky for the time being.
It seems to be a topic that keeps popping up. :)
