Advice for life; political rhetoric and campaign ads are for knee-jerk reactions and tugging on the strings of outrage. Some of the related videos are amusingly obvious in their attempts; " John Kerry...playing politics with national security " , "Just when you thought there was a limit... , or they're despicably low to the point of beng libelous, or just plain goofy and surreal.

It's all just mudslinging at the end of the day, and both wings have their hands caked in the stuff. Never form an opinion if it came from a political ad - it's all emotion, no reason. "This guy wants to raise taxes and take money from you and your family" "This guy wants to lower public spending - less money, less cops, more criminals in your street!" "Don't vote for that guy - he scowled at a mailman once!" "Do you really want to vote for a man who uses Verizon? A cellular provider that is proven to be to 37% more unreliable and likely to promote fundamental terrorism than any other network?"

...What was it George Carlin said? "It's all ******** and it's bad for ya."

I also had no idea how serious these campaign ads are. I've only ever seen them satirically - I had no idea they actually say "I'm X, and I approve this message" with a straight face. American politics, I suppose... A world away from our own.

Anyway, pardon my ramblings. I'll go back in the box now.

That isn't really a campaign ad...it's the democratic party in Michigan warning people about how George W. Bush would handle the economy. Campaign ads that have some sort of endorsement for the candidate. I guess we can't say if Al Gore won the presidential election, things would be different. But it is a bit of a shock that this ad predicted a lot. Yes, those "Hi, i'm X, and I approve this message" ads that like to point out stupid flaws in the other candidate are a bit absurd, however they do influence a lot of idiot voters sitting at home watching tv all day so it's important to inform the lazy american majority in the only way they can.
