I was wondering if anyone has received a letter or invite like this. It seems like a check laundering scam to me, but if anyone here has had legitimate experience with this company i would really like to know. Thanks. Today I received a letter from Progressive Marketing Research Group stating that I had been selected to be a secret shopper. It came with a check that I am supposed to deposit after activating it through a PMG representative. The check looks extremely real with watermarks and everything. It is in the amount of $2074. My first 'job' is to wire $1654 to the PMG regional manager while evaluating a local Western Union. My second 'job' is to spend $70 while evaluating employees at Wal-mart or Sears or Kmart etc. It states i get to keep the merchandise that I purchase with the seventy dollars. The remaining $350 of the check is listed as my 'salary'. . |

I have received one about a year ago and it is indeed a scam. You cash the check, it bounces, your bank makes you pay it back. The person who sent you the check will usually ask you to send part of it back to them. Also if you deposit it in your bank, somehow they gain your banking information. Im not quite sure how but this scam has been going on for years now. |
