Should i try and find a team to give me merits to, and when you submit merits to the team contest do you lose them forever? It is very risky if you do. Thanks

Try saving up more merits, such as a few thousand, and then start looking into joining a team would be my recommendation. Yes, if you donate your merits it is irreversible and cannot be added back to your merit balance, even if you happen to leave the team. Also merits donated only go towards the current running contest so you would want to make sure you actually have a shot at winning the competition before you donate any.
