It really depends on how u plan to use ur laptop however to me, both look like pretty decent gaming monitors andd they could easily be used for work. But if u are gonna play games on it a lot then get a desktop. Otherwise, get laptop 2.

Hey pirate,

I voted for the ASUS, for a couple of reasons. For the specs listed on both machines, from a technical aspect, the ASUS has more bang for the buck. The only major advantage I see for the HP is the larger hard drive, which you could easily make up for by getting an external. :)

I'd choose the first one, I've heard that some HP laptops have a tendency to overheat or something

Time out! I don't know what the reasons are for the ASUS so far, and I want to hear it.

Performance wise, ASUS has the better processor (but slightly)! HP is a Quad Core. It would have to take Intel's top-line i5 core to match it when you upgrade the ram on the HP. Intel i5 is a dual core and the processor can only have up to 8 gigs max on ram, which is really more important for noticeable performance and product longevity. The ram on the HP laptop is expandable to 16GB, and that can be tremendous compared to 8.

Other than that, the HP has HDMI, 4 USBs, better graphics, Blu-ray drive, and what I think to be, a better webcam.

It's an easy choice.

*edit

You should take a look at the Lenovo too. This one has weaker graphics, but it shines on price and other things.
