” ^ But you know what, I wrote a new set of rules about a year ago that contains stuff not currently in the rules. And it was never updated. SO the rules DON'T contain everything you/we tell people in shout. SO again, I just think it would be a big hassle, why change something that has worked for 4 years....greenlants That is being worked on. And yes, it has worked for 4 years, but we are a growing community and I, as well as all the other moderators and admin think that it's about time we extended a small level of trust to the members and start relaxing on a few issues that in reality are quite trivial. Removing comments all the time and having 5 platinum+ members saying "no links in shout" all day every day doesn't look good to new members and creates a bad atmosphere amongst the existing. |

no need to worry about all outside links not being deleted Those members who choose to add vulgar, inappropriate, paid sites and the like WILL be removed or even blacklisted from ever showing. When we say posting outside links is ok its meant as the harmless ones Like the amazon links or maybe a friend who wants to give his/her facebook or a user wanting to share a song from youtube. The point is in keeping it friendly so those that was to express and share can without being limited ^*^ theyre harmless and will even encourage a better community without every single link needed to be deleted ")
We do check these links and delete them if we are unsure of the origins and will delete them if they are bad just like any gold+ user can do if they are truly not allowed. This by no means is a way of saying all outside links do not have to be deleted, they will be if wrong ![]() edit -- thats actually a good statement, what may be appropriate to one isnt to another. I say this whole thing is a test if anything and we will see how it goes. If it is out of hand itll likely go back to the original of no outside links. But lets look at members behaviors and reactions for now? No harm in trying they say

I thought it was great that we could do this. Abby pretty much said everything, but bottom line is that there are many links that is appropriate considering this site is heading towards being a big community site where people want to share and discuss things. I consider the shoutbox to be a live version of the forums. If we can post outside links in the forums, then the shoutbox should be fine too. As for any links that don't follow the rules, it can be moderated the same way as they've been in both the forums and shoutbox. |

i think that it's an ALRIGHT addition. people are definitely going to abuse the privilege and post inappropriate links and argue that they're allowed to. regardless, they'd do that anyway though. |
