Everyone of us, as we grow, are shown how love is supposed to be. A lot of writers expose their vision about love, since kid you learn that the hearts, flowers, candies and every valentine's day stuff is "love related". So there is a lot of information of how love is supposed to be, and when you are in a relationship, you act according to this expectations of what love si supposed to be. But when you feel hate, no one tells you how do you feel when you hate something or someone, it just flow! hate invades you and takes control of you in many ways, and you just act and feel. People just not think about how is supposed to be when you hate. I think that sometimes "love" is polluted, as we are trying to find a partner in life, and just in some cases love takes your life by assault, because in many cases, you "must" act according to what everyone thinks love is. I think love is a greater feeling, but when we feel hate, we know with any doubt that we are hating. Maybe we feel hate for just some moments, but we feel it in every corner like a striking lightning... but after that, mostly of the times, regret appears. So what do you think? which feeling is more pure? |

I have to agree with everyone being conditioned to act according to how everyone else should see you as when it comes to love . I suppose it's something that's easier controlled and an area of where being phony comes into play a bit more whereas hate is something that overtakes you and you can't determine or try altering with how you'll react because it's harder to get a good grasp on. Maybe they're both pure in their own unique ways, and it would all be different depending on the individual because everyone expresses things differently. Seems like these two things are too different. It's like asking which weather conditions are more harmful; extreme cold or extreme heat. My answer would be neither over the other.

I think "pure" may be a poor choice to describe any emotion. Dictionary.com defines purity as 1. freedom from anything that debases, contaminates, pollutes, etc.: the purity of drinking water. 2. freedom from any admixture or modifying addition. 3. ceremonial or ritual cleanness. 4. freedom from guilt or evil; innocence. 5. physical chastity; virginity. Emotions are complex and often coupled and mixed. Maybe the better question is which (love or hate) is a more honest/ true/ or authentic emotion? I do agree that love may be more socially defined than hate, but I do not think hate is as overpowering as described in the posts above. Maintaining hatred is a difficult task, even if the person has wronged you so many times before. I think love is the more honest emotion. It is easier to love than hate and I believe that ease is what truly determines the purity or honesty of the emotion. |
